This blend brings the antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic properties of okra mucilage to our All Things Salve. All the plant ingredients are grown, harvested, dried, and infused by Farmer Sandi. Okra mucilage is extracted in oil, then combined with All Things Salve infused oil. Those herbs soak in organic extra virgin olive oil for several weeks on a sunny window sill, then all are strained, warmed with melted beeswax, and immediately poured into tins, with a few drops of Vitamin E to aid preservation.
 
Ingredients: okra (pods and seeds), calendula (flower), comfrey (root and leaf), chickweed, lavender (flower), narrow leaf plaintain (leaf), wormwood (leaf), local beeswax, organic extra virgin olive oil, vitamin e.
 
Use and storage: In our home we use All-Things Salve year round for dry skin, eczema, scrapes, burns, non-yeast rashes, bug bites, and sad baby bottoms (but not yeasty diaper rashes). For external use only, and not for deep cuts. I made the okra variant with acne and other skin damage in mind. While okra mucilage is still not familiar to many of us as a body care ingredient, it has historically been used in folk remedies and has the potential to be an important plant-based skincare ingredient with similar properties to aloe vera, but with better shelf stability after processing. If using for acne or a persistent skin challenge, consider having a dedicated tin just for that person/use. If you aren't using it regularly, keeping it in the fridge or freezer will extend freshness. Store away from sources of heat.
